THE WAVES OF WAR is the first in a series of historic seafaring novels that follow the trials and tribulations of a courageous young Royal Navy officer during World War Two. As captain of the small destroyer H.M.S. Brackendale, Lieutenant-Commander Richard Thorburn R.N., finds himself thrown headlong into the desperate fight for naval supremacy in the hostile waters of the English Channel.

A rebel to those in 'high office', but well thought of by his immediate superiors, Thorburn must win the confidence of not only a succession of Senior Officers but also earn the trust of his entire Ship's Company. And so the story of Lieutenant-Commander Richard Thorburn is brought to the fore. From his very first wartime engagement, and throughout the ensuing turbulent years of conflict, his devotion to duty, his loyalty to both ship and crew, and his fighting spirit are all tested to the full.
